Na POIG conmemoramos o Día Internacional da Educación
Hoxe, 24 de xaneiro, é o día escollido pola Organización das Nacións Unidas (ONU) para celebrar o Día Internacional da Educación. Visibilizase esta data co obxectivo de concienciar a tódalas persoas que habitamos este planeta da importancia da educación para conseguir a consecución dos Obxectivos de Desenvolvemento Sostible e con eles o benestar, o desenvolvemento sostible e a paz.
Dende a Plataforma de Organizacións de Infancia Galega (POIG) como entidade cuxa misión é a protección e promoción dos Dereitos da Infancia recollidos na Convención dos Dereitos da Infancia de 1989, defendemos unha educación equitativa, gratuíta e de calidade. Consideramos o dereito á educación, un dereito chave en canto da acceso ao resto de dereitos; imaxinemos unha persoa que non sabe ler, parece obvio que esta persoa terá moitas máis dificultades na vida para todo, dende para acceder a un emprego digno ata para saber que é digno ou non o é.
Na actualidade, 262 millóns de nenas, nenos e adolescentes seguen sen estar escolarizados e 617 millóns non poden ler nin manexan os rudimentos de cálculo. Esta cifra incrementase coa situación de emerxencia sanitaria que nos confinou nas nosas casas e obrigou a suspender as clases presenciais no último trimestre do curso pasado en practicamente todo o mundo e que fixo que moitas nenas e nenos abandonasen xa a escola para sempre. Por isto, nesta ocasión o lema principal para a celebración deste día é “Recuperar e revitalizar a educación para a xeración COVID-19”
A educación é unha das ferramentas mais poderosas para romper co círculo da pobreza que replica as situacións de carencia xeración tras xeración; ten unha función de compensación das desigualdades de orixe que non hai que esquencer e a que hai que reforzar.
En Galicia, coma no resto de España, o acceso á educación está practicamente garantido, sen embargo, o noso sistema educativo ten outros retos. Retos que se fan especialmente visibles na situación sanitaria que atravesamos.
O fracaso e o abandono escolar sitúase no noso país por enriba da media europea, sendo un dos más altos, un 17% xa antes da crise sanitaria. No territorio galego, esta taxa descendeu nos últimos anos ata o 12,6%, sen embargo, non podemos darnos por satisfeitos ata alcanzar o obxectivo de redución ata o 10% que marcou a UE para o ano 2020.
Neste sentido, sabemos que durante o confinamento entre un 20 e un 30% do alumnado estivo desconectado, esta brecha dixital coincide coa brecha económica e social polo que estamos a ver que esa función compensadora das desigualdades de orixe que ten a escola debe ser reforzada.
Se queremos asegurar a equidade educativa de todo o alumnado e non deixar a ninguén atrás é imprescindible un sistema educativo que se adapte aos cambios con axilidade e que preste especial atención as nenas e nenos mais vulnerables. En Galicia é importante traballar contra o abandono escolar, asegurar a calidade do aprendizaxe en calquera situación e evitar mais inequidade.
Ademais se debe garantir unha educación non formal, con variedade de actividades extraescolares, de ocio e de tempo libre, pois contribúen enormemente ao desenvolvemento e benestar da infancia.
A educación é un dereito humano, un ben público e unha responsabilidade colectiva e nestes momentos precisa de moita atención e esforzos, humanos e orzamentarios, para recuperala e revitalizala.
